The series ” Future Primitive Drawing” by Ian Pyper is completely based on the same basic idea: mix a type of “primitive” drawing (two dimensions, non compliance with the proportions) with the theme of the convergence of the human being with the machine. This way, we can doubtless say that the artist is in our subject.
His creatures experiment diverse connections, diverse artefacts which prolong their body.
Here, in Transhuman in Transit, The character is surrounded with a foot, with a hand, with what seems to be able to be an eye, but also by other ” strange external organs ” connected with him by diverse connections.
I also note the use of the big blackheads, which are not only used for eyes, but also for articulations and often for extremities (of fingers, or connections). These points gives me the impression to mean always an interface, a possible connection.
But, used for eyes, they always give to the character an amazed, dazed expression, even here, allied to the opened mouth, of bewilderment. As if the individual was himself very surprised by the results of the situation in which he eventually finds.
The idea is original. It carries on second thought. Nevertheless, aesthetically, I miss a – I don’t know what, of more exciting which prevents me from putting this series to the rank of those whom I appreciate most.
Very interesting,I feel the screen is filled with electric current.
